Our Founding Missionary Partner is now in Heaven
Lisa McGeary
The Micah Ministry partnered with Lisa McGeary in her desire to bring aid and the love of Christ to the deaf and vulnerable children of Zambia. Lisa fell in love with the people of Africa on a mission trip with The Crossing Church of Las Vegas in 2012. Over the next couple years she believed God was calling her to help the children of Africa. In the summer of 2016 Lisa decided to become full time missionary. She quit her job in the states, and moved to Africa. It was shortly after this that the Micah Ministry was formed to help her with the funding for her calling.
In December of 2020, during a trip home to visit her family, Lisa developed symptoms of Malaria and was hospitalized. Lisa was never able to recover from the damage to her organs by the Malaria. On December 25th of 2020, Lisa went to her final home in Heaven. While Lisa’s work on earth may have stopped, her mission to help the children of Zambia will continue.
Micah Ministry will continue to support and provide funding for the UCF Children’s Home in Kabwe, Zambia. If you would like to join us in this work please contact anyone here a Micah Ministry.
Sarah and Roy Mwassa
Micah Ministry is also actively supporting the UCF Children’s Home. The UCF (Ukusenaminwa Child Foundation) is a children’s home that provides housing, food, education and a Christian family environment for over 45 deaf and at risk children. The UCF was created in 2008 by Sarah Mwansa and Roy Mwansa when an abandoned deaf child was left on the church doorstep and no one wanted to take the boy in.
God spoke to their hearts and told them to take care of the boy. He is still with them today and so are 44 other children from broken homes and the street. Having a disability like being deaf can result in being discarded by society and your family. Because of the Christian Love and commitment of people like Roy and Sarah these children now have chance to see the love of Christ in action. UCF now has over 45 children that live in their 6 room house. They would like to help more but are limited by finances and the lack of space. They currently care for all the children in two small buildings that only have at total of 5 bedrooms.
